HPlus ReadMe file
                      -----------------

This file contains installation instructions for the Linux version of
the HPlus software downloaded from the Quantitative Genetic Epidemiology
group at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. It includes installation
instructions and contact details. Please read the complete instructions before
trying to use the software.

INSTALLATION
------------

NOTE: This version of HPlus has been tested under Redhat 8.0 and SuSE 9.x.
It should work on other recent Linux versions, but please get in contact
if you experience incompatibilities.

PLEASE READ THIS WHOLE FILE TO ENSURE CORRECT INSTALLATION

1. If you intend to install HPlus on a computer that already has Matlab
   installed:

   a. If it is Matlab 7.0.4, continue with this installation. You may not
      need to install the Matlab libraries below depending on which toolboxes
      you purchased for your copy of Matlab. If you experience problems running
      HPlus, please install the Matlab Libraries as described below.
   b. If it is a version of Matlab other than 7.0.4, installing this version of
      HPlus and its libraries may conflict with your current Matlab install.
      You should contact us to see if we can supply a version of HPlus that
      was compiled with your version of Matlab, OR you should install HPlus
      on a different machine. Some testing has indicated that different
      versions do coexist peacefully, and you may try this at your own risk.

2. Unzip and untar the HPlus archive. It will create an HPlus directory.

3. Download and MCRInstaller.zip from the QGE web site (make sure you download
   the Linux version!) into the same directory, then follow the installation
   instructions from the Matlab Web site at:

   http://www.mathworks.com/access/helpdesk/help/toolbox/compiler/f12-999353.html

   to install the libraries.

4. Be sure to add the environment variables for the Matlab libraries as
   described on the above web page!

5. The software is installed! To run it, execute the HPlus file in your
   installation directory. For example, from the command line, change to
   your install directory and type:

   ./HPlus

   to run the application.
